Pigeon Creek Primitives
purveyors of fine, handmade wares from our home in Kentucky, where you will find primitive style items to accent your home
and warm your heart.
Pigeon Creek Primitives comes from my family roots
on Pigeon Creek, in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, in Johnson County, just a
little ways from the town of Paintsville. There, on a hillside, lay my
great-grandparents in an old family cemetery, right next door to a little
Baptist church. They lived in a still-standing farmhouse about ¼ mile from the
church and spent their lives farming in that winding bottom between the
mountains.
The phrase "Over on Pigeon" comes from the use of it by my family and others
in the mountains who would say, "They live over on Pigeon." or
"Let's go up Hargus." These were not phrases common in the city I grew up
in. It is a memory that I cherish as part of my heritage.

Granny's Dried Apple Pie Fixinz!
|
These wonderfully scented fixinz are made up of:
rose hips,
dried apple slices,
and cute little wooden rolling pins that have been soaked in the scented oil and added to the scented mix.
They are all together in a brown kraft bag. You can click on the photos to get a closer look.
I chose to call these "Granny's Dried Apple Pie" because it was one of my Granny's favorite pies. I have memories of dried apples in her kitchen and in jars on the back porch, waiting to be made up into something good to eat! Each bag weighs about 12 oz.
